About
Fay
Fay Hartje brings dedication and compassion for children, youth, and families which is shown in her commitment to the field of psychology. Fay earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Oregon State University and refined her skills at the University of Washington’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. During this time, she gained hands-on case management experience working with community agencies serving youth and families where she fostered collaboration during challenging times, emphasizing strength and resilience.
Fay went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling at Sonoma State University, where she spent her traineeship and post graduate work in community mental health agencies as a clinician serving individuals and families with complex trauma. In addition, Fay is currently a clinical assessor and therapist for the University of California, San Francisco's — Path Program for early psychosis research, which supports youth presenting with clinical high-risk symptoms for psychosis.
In her practice, Fay works with children as young as 4 years old, integrating play therapy and sand tray work to foster connection and build confidence in the therapy space. She holds a priority when working with children, adolescents and families to partner with parents to support their connection with their child. During individual work with both adults and youth clients, she integrates psychodynamic talk therapy, trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), art therapy, and nervous system-based techniques into session. Fay holds passion in partnering with individuals, youth, families, and couples to explore their unique needs. It is essential to her work to first foster connection and promote self-confidence and trust as she has a deep understanding that reaching out for help can be both vulnerable and rewarding.
In her free time, Fay enjoys spending time outdoors with her two German Shepherds, as well as, gardening, and cooking. She loves watching her favorite baseball team (Go Red Sox!) and playing trivia with friends & family.
Fay works with adults, children, youth, families, and couples.
