About
Taylor
Taylor’s work with helping others began with her volunteer role as President of the Best Buddies Club at Napa High School which involved helping peers with intellectual and developmental disabilities build social skills and friendships. From there, her interest in helping individuals and families stay connected through life’s challenges grew. After Taylor obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at UC Davis, she continued her volunteer work with Best Buddies program inspiring others to find purpose in helping the community. Following graduation, Taylor worked for a local non-profit, helping adults with severe mental illness manage their symptoms and develop social skills. In this role, Taylor’s desire to do deeper, interpersonal work grew, prompting her to attend the Master’s Program at Dominican University in San Rafael, CA where she graduated with an MS in Counseling Psychology, with concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Taylor has had a variety of experiences within the helping profession which includes her work for a non-profit organization in Marin County where she provided school-based therapy for elementary aged children. In this role, she utilized play therapy, narrative play therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to address various diagnoses including anxiety, depression, suicidality, relational difficulties, and more. Taylor then transitioned to working for Napa County for 2 years where she worked as an emergency response clinician/social worker who assessed children and families for child abuse and neglect. She brought her deep sense of empathy, patience, clear communication, and actionable tools to the families she worked with in our community. Her role required the use of play-based solution-focused interventions, family systems work, and motivational interviewing in order to complete thorough assessments and provide families with resources suited to their needs.
Overtime, Taylor’s interest in doing deeper work with children, adolescents, adults, and families continued to grow, leading her back to her role as a psychotherapist in private practice. Currently, Taylor is participating in the 2024-2025 Napa Parent-Infant Mental Health Fellowship, gaining experience and certification in therapeutic techniques for parents and children ages 0-5.Taylor genuinely believes in the ability to change, heal and grow through challenging times with use of therapeutic interventions. Her work is rooted in Play Therapy with Cognitive Behavioral tools, Narrative Therapy techniques, and Family Systems approaches.
